Overview
Looking for a legal assistant/paralegal with experience in, or desire to learn estate planning. We are a small firm that collaborates together to get done what needs to get done. Tasks in addition to primary duties may be varied, so a willingness to pitch in where needed is necessary.
We operate in an informal, relaxed environment where we strive to get along and support each other. Familiarity with case management software, the court system, document drafting and scheduling are skills that a will be necessary for success.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with case management by organizing and maintaining legal documents using document management systems PCLaw, WealthCounseland Outlook.
- Draft and review legal documents, including estate planning documents such as wills and trusts and may include pleadings, motions, discovery requests, contracts, and correspondence with attention to accuracy and clarity.
- Interview clients to gather pertinent information.
- Handle confidential information with integrity while maintaining meticulous records of case activities and correspondence.
- Provide executive administrative support by managing calendars, scheduling meetings, answering phone inquiries with professionalism, and coordinating communication between clients and attorneys.
- Qualifications
- Proven paralegal experience or legal support experience.
- Knowledge of multiple practice areas including estate planning, family law and criminal law is helpful but not required.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence; proofreading accuracy is essential.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with familiarity with legal case management systems such as PCLaw or document management systems like WealthCounsel.
- Effective client communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette.
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
