Salary: $18.50/HR
SCHEDULE:
- 2pm-10:30pm Tuesday - Saturday
Must be available to work on weekdays, weekends and holidays.

SUMMARY
The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is seeking a full-time Lead Security Officer. This position is responsible for leading the security staff assigned to a particular shift and ensure that the work environment is safe and well-maintained. Provides protection for personnel and company property. Oversees all site security operations during shift to ensure the safety of personnel, guests, and customers as well as protecting the museum properties from unauthorized access, sabotage, vandalism, or theft. Serves as the primary site contact for law enforcement agencies when Security Supervisor or Manager is not on-site. Supports and administers organizational security plans and operations. Regular, predictable attendance is essential for satisfactory performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Performs all Security Officer duties and oversees security team members assigned to a shift. Duties include planning, scheduling, organizing, directing work, and training personnel.
- Communicates clearly and effectively with management, staff, visitors, and vendors.
- Conducts pre-determined actions and renders first aid in emergencies such as accident, fire, and illness.
- Provide direction of the teams daily operations and work assignment, and review work for quality and efficiency.
- Ensures that all security team members assigned to a shift meet grooming and uniform standards.
- Recommends to the site Security Supervisor ways to improve physical security and/or correct department function.
- Plan and coordinate security operations for special events.
- Investigate and resolve employee and visitor accidents/issues.
- Oversee the maintenance of the Museums first aid equipment
- Meet and coordinate with off-site emergency first responders
- Create reports for management on security status
- Oversee the preparation of Incident Reporting and Standard Operating Practice.
- This position requires some weekend and evening work hours
- Provide coverage for hurricanes and other emergencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High Diploma and two (2) years' minimum experience in security management required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelors degree in public safety management preferred. Military experience a plus.
- Experience in Crisis Management and Incident Manager preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
State of Florida (Class D) Security License Training Certificate/Card. CPR certification and first-aid training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Skills in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Museum staff, public and local fire and police departments
- Ability to work independently and without immediate supervision
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Committed and reliable
- Willingness to work a prior-scheduled weekend day and flexible availability in response to deadline-oriented schedules.
- Willingness and ability to respond to off hours emergencies or emergency preparations.
- Valid Florida drivers license.
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English or English/Creole)
- Working knowledge of MS Office

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed both in indoors and outdoor settings. Work is performed in a public attraction facility. May require driving to and from worksite locations. Equipment can be located in/on mechanical rooms, rooftops, and outside facility. Employees may work around chemicals, electricity, high levels of noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat. Work may be required for night shifts, holidays and/or weekends.
