Power Sweeper - Night Shift

Position Summary:

The person in this position operates a variety of equipment and trucks utilized in construction, maintenance and repair activities; performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of street sweeping, power washing and hauling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Operates a sweeper truck to vacuum debris.
• Maintains the properties store fronts and parking lots by keeping them in clean condition.
• Uses a backpack blower to blow debris.
• Removes trash and replaces garbage liners.
• Picks up debris weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Performs routine inspections, preventative maintenance, cleaning the equipment and referring defects or needed repairs to management.
• Call in to a maintenance or landscape supervisor if there is an emergency
• Properly follows company and CAL/OSHA safety procedures.  Brings problems to the attention of management.
• Reports to work regularly and on time.
• Takes direction and responds cooperatively to supervision.
• Produces consistent and high-quality work performance.
• Maintains professionalism at all times.
• Maintains integrity with company property and time.
• Complies with all company rules and regulations stated in the Philco Building Maintenance, Inc. employee handbook.

MARGINAL DUTIES:

• Pick up trash and place in dumpster.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

            High school diploma and 6 months to a year of experience driving sweeping   equipment.

 CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a CA driver’s license with no recent violations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

·       Ability to work alone at night.

·       Must have good judgment in order to complete complicated tasks.

·       Must be able to work closely with other crafts without constant supervision. 

·       Must be constantly alert and observant of their surroundings.

·       Ability to follow policies and procedures.

·       Must demonstrate the ability to operate large equipment.

·       Ability to follow directions.

·       Consistent in attendance and punctuality.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:

Regularly (2/3 or more total time) required to:

·       sit on a seat in the sweeper for up to 7 hours per day;

·       use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and controls;

·       reach with hands and arms, grasp objects, push/pull objects weighing 10-50 pounds, twist the upper body, rotate the wrist, and use finger dexterity while driving.

·       lift 10 to 50 pounds from ground to shoulder level, and carry for a distance of 10 to 40 feet;

·       bend to file or retrieve an item on the ground.

Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 total time) required to:

·       stand for several minutes at a time for up to 1 hour a day;

·       walk a distance of 10 to 40 feet for/up to 1 hour a day.

Occasionally (up to 1/3 total time) required to:

·       kneel;

·       squat.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
