Position Summary
The Communications & Membership Coordinator assists in implementing Philanthropy Ohio’s communications and membership strategies for internal and external audiences to meet the organization’s strategic goals. Under the supervision of the Vice President of Communications & Membership, the Coordinator enhances membership growth and engagement through strategic communications, creating compelling content, cultivating relationships with members and utilizing data to strengthen organizational impact. The Coordinator is a highly organized, detail-oriented communicator who takes initiative, delivers high-quality work, collaborates effectively and is committed to exceptional member service and Philanthropy Ohio’s mission.
Philanthropy Ohio is a remote-first workplace. This is a full-time, exempt position based in Ohio. The Coordinator may be located anywhere within the state, with occasional travel to Columbus and to convenings across Ohio as needed.
Salary range: $45,000 – $52,500 plus benefits, which includes 15 days vacation, sick leave, retirement benefits, medical, dental, vision life insurance, parental leave, and a collegial work environment.

Primary Responsibilities
Communications
- Produces, edits and disseminates high-quality content for all communications channels.
- Executes the annual communications calendar, including managing social media strategies and the Ohio Philanthropy News and EventsLine newsletters.
- Assists in executing day-to-day email campaigns, as well as email marketing campaigns for special initiatives and events.
- Researches content and analyzes data for newsletters, surveys and reports.
- Researches and gathers information to answer questions posed by members and staff on key issues and areas, managing member Online Communities (listservs) and information requests.
- Manages the program announcement (event promotion) process, including preparation, proofing and distribution of program announcements and other promotional materials as needed.
- Assists in the creation of materials to market all events and programs, including for the annual conference.
- Maintains organizational brand and voice internally, externally and across all communications channels.
- Prepares written and digital communications, talking points and presentations as needed.
- Designs and maintains organizational collateral and digital assets in partnership with external designers, printers and other vendors as needed.
Membership
- Updates membership database, ensuring accurate, current information; develops campaigns; creates and evaluates reports; and performs other data management tasks as needed.
- Implements the annual membership renewal campaign and assists with prospecting to achieve budgeted revenue and retention goals.
- Helps execute the new member welcome plans, member retention plans and engagement plans, providing reports on activities and progress.
- Assists with updating membership marketing and promotional materials.
- Conducts annual membership survey in partnership with other staff, assisting with data analysis and presentation.
- Maintains primary relationships with members as assigned by the Constituent Relationship Management plan.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience, preferably in marketing or communications
- Effective, demonstrated communication skills with the ability to author and proof content for publication
- Exceptional organizational, planning, administrative, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Detail-oriented and takes initiative, independently carrying out responsibilities and meeting deadlines
- A strong commitment to high-quality member service
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of MailChimp or email marketing software preferred; Adobe Creative Suite; and Salesforce or CRM database/system preferred
- Experience in philanthropy/nonprofit sector preferred
