Position: ESL Instructor
Job Class: Independent Contractor (Part-Time)
Location: Lakewood, NJ
Start Date: April 2023
Hourly Rate: $40 per hour
DESCRIPTION
The Phillies are looking for a qualified ESL instructor to teach small, multi-level groups of international baseball players approximately one hour per day from 12:30-1:30pm multiple times per week during the months of April-August. Schedule is dependent on baseball game schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Ability to teach multi-level classes
- Focus lessons on speaking, listening, reading, writing, life skills, and cultural acclimation
- Develop creative and engaging lesson plans that support authentic language learning
- Emphasize specialized vocabulary on topics that address specific needs of baseball players
- Utilize technology in the classroom and as a tool for continued learning
- Analyze pre-testing results to assess students’ needs and conduct post-testing to evaluate progress and identify individual learning objectives
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in Education, ESL, TESOL, or related field with TESOL/ESL certification
- 2-3 years’ experience teaching ESL
- Experience teaching non-traditional, adult, or out-of-school youth students
- Experience teaching occupation-specific language skills a plus
- Spanish language skills a plus
- Knowledge of baseball a plus
