Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Camp Nurse to provide comprehensive healthcare services in a dynamic camp environment from July 18 - July 31, 2026, in Wayne, Pennsylvania. The Camp Nurse will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all campers and staff by delivering high-quality medical care, managing emergency situations, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant outdoor setting, promoting wellness and safety while fostering a positive camp experience for all participants.
Responsibilities
- Provide first aid, basic life support (BLS), and emergency medical care to campers and staff as needed
- Assess patient conditions through thorough evaluations, vital signs monitoring, and physiological assessments if and when needed
- Administer medications, injections, and manage infectious disease concerns following proper protocols
- Maintain detailed medical documentation
- Coordinate with local emergency services during urgent situations and facilitate transportation if necessary
- Conduct health education sessions for campers and staff
- Ensure all medical supplies are stocked, properly stored, and regularly checked for expiration or safety standards
Requirements
- Valid State Board of Nursing license with current registration to practice as a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN)
- Proven experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, trauma centers (Level I or Level II), or urgent care settings
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and acute care procedures
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems, including medical documentation and electronic health records management
- Proficiency in patient assessment, vital signs measurement, venipuncture, injection administration, AED operation, CPR certification, and manual handling techniques
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics (PICU experience), geriatrics, or outpatient clinics is highly desirable
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism and compassion
