We are looking for an experienced Senior Sales Executive with functional knowledge in either flexible packaging, ingredients, plastic/glass containers, equipment, or chemicals. Phenix is the largest, family-owned label printing company in the United States. 

The Senior Sales Executive will:

  • Help establish best practices with flexible packaging for art, quality, production and sales to help us achieve our sales goals and mitigate risks to our customers.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients and market trends.
  •  Generate leads through proactive outreach and networking, and present and demonstrate our products/services to prospective clients. 
  • Act as the liaison between Phenix and the customer to understand the product’s required specifications and end use. This includes an understanding of our internal and technical processes, such as material, barrier properties, sealant layer, art, and various methods of print production.

Essential Functions:

  • Answers customers' questions about products, prices, availability, and credit terms.
  • Recommends products to customers, based on customers' needs and interests.
  • Contacts regular and prospective customers to promote products and solicit orders.
  • Processes estimates and quote requests, credit or contract terms, and delivery dates.
  • Consults with clients to resolve problems and to provide ongoing support.
  • Prepares drawings, estimates, and bids that meet specific customer needs.
  • Provides customers with product samples and prototypes.
  • Generate leads through proactive outreach and networking using referrals, business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, attending trade shows and conferences, etc.
  • Monitors market conditions, product innovations, competitors' products, prices, and sales.
  • Works with the V.P. of Sales and Marketing to negotiate details of contracts.
  • Works with the Estimating Manager to process bid requests accurately and efficiently by completing the required bid request form.
  • Works with the customer service team to process orders accurately and efficiently by completing required sales order form.
  • Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, keeping sales records, and filing expense account reports.
  • Obtain credit information about prospective customers.
  • Maintain detailed technical knowledge of Phenix Label Company’s manufacturing capabilities and constantly increasing knowledge on the changes and advances of the label and packaging industries.
  • Maintain an understanding of flexographic printing, processes, services, pricing, and materials to ensure estimates accurately reflect expected performance.
  • Complete any reasonable request of management necessary to effectively operate the department/company.
  • Suggests improvements to sales process, cycle times, speed to market, innovative ideas and/or cost reductions.
  • Ensures adherence to all quality control processes and procedures.
  • 25% to 50% Travel is expected to customers and prospects to solicit business and build/maintain excellent personal relationships.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Individual must be able to work independently with minimal guidance required. This implies good time management, planning/organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Individual must be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people in a wide variety of settings, possessing strong communication skills, maintaining flexibility, objectivity and a capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Individual must be able to adjust actions in relation to others' actions, persuade others to change their minds or behavior, and actively look for ways to help people and solve problems.
  • Individual must be able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Individual must be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Active involvement in Phenix Label Company’s vision statement, five core values, and non-negotiables.
  • Previous sales and printing experience preferred.
  • Preferred 4-year degree and 2-4 years relevant experience.
  • English language required.

Physical and Other Requirements:

This job is performed indoors in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. This job requires travel by car, plane, hotel and conventions and the physical rigors that come with it.  Job tasks are performed in close proximity to other people and, when entering the adjacent manufacturing plant, include exposure to strobe lights, sounds and noise levels that are distracting. The employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, walk and bend. The employee must frequently sit, talk, listen, and lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Requires use of hands to handle, control or feel objects and operate computer and other office-related equipment.
