What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tunnel Operator position at Phelps Uniform Specialists?
OBJECTIVE:
The Tunnel Operator is responsible for inspecting and hanging garments. The Operator will flag any items that need repair or replacement in the process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Inspect garments and ensure garments that need repaired or replaced are scanned using a reader
- Hang garments onto a hanger
- Utilize productivity tracking system
- Other production duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to stand for a 10-12 hour shift

WORKING CONDITIONS
There will be long periods of standing, bending, twisting and lifting. This position will require lifting arms above shoulder height and pulling garments out of a bin located to the right side of the body. This job is inside a production facility focusing on industrial laundry that includes heavy equipment, steam tunnels, washers, dryers, etc. Working conditions include hot and cold weather. The production facility is not climate controlled – temperatures can range significantly and can have a significant ‘real feel’ far hotter or cooler than outdoor temperatures. There will be exposure to moisture due to equipment. There is air circulation due to fans and breaks are provided throughout the work day.
