What are the responsibilities and job description for the Route Manager position at PHELPS UNIFORM SPECIALISTS?
OBJECTIVE:
The Route Manager oversees the Route Service Representatives at their location and manage accounts in the district through contract renewals, resolving customer concerns, and identifying areas for growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Establish and maintain outstanding customer service within assigned geographic area
- Recruit, select, hire, develop and educate Route Service employees
- Effectively manage district's accounts through quality control monitoring
- Aid in conducting evaluations of staff to provide feedback on their overall performance, growth and customer service skills
- Coordinate Smart Clean program and scheduling
- Responsible for handling and coordinating vehicle maintenance and safety issues and report accordingly
- File and report any delivery issues encountered
- Proactively follow up on accounts in jeopardy and lost accounts
- Responsible for contract renewal program in their district
- Make direct service calls and resolve service concerns in a timely manner
- Maintain close coordination with production department regarding service and customer issues
- Perform route observations and customer visits
- Partner with sales organization to identify areas of growth opportunities and retain 100% of the district's customers
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record (3 years)
- Must be able to pass pre-employment requirements (drug/alcohol test, fit-for-duty test, DOT physical)
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, communication and customer service skills
- Solid computer skills including working knowledge of MS Office software
- Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
- Ability to remain organized and balance incoming customer requests/issues in a fast-paced environment
PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted, and be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, lift, push and walk
- Must be able to drive a truck/van with ease and be able to sit for extended periods of time while driving the delivery truck
- Must have the physical ability to move rolling carts of varying weights – up to and exceeding approximately 250lbs.
- Ability to work during all seasons with exposure to outside elements
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Two years of service and route-based industry experience
