Responsibilities
- Install and troubleshoot low voltage systems including CCTV, fiber splicing, network wiring, Ethernet cabling (Cat5, Cat6), and telecommunication equipment such as VoIP and Avaya systems
- Read and interpret schematics, technical diagrams, and wiring diagrams to ensure precise system installation
- Conduct fiber optic splicing and testing to establish reliable high-speed data connections
- Perform network installation tasks involving Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, LAN configurations, and network wiring in data centers or client facilities
- Use diagnostic tools such as Fluke Certifiers, EXFO OTDRs/OLTS, ohmmeters and RF testers to identify issues and verify system performance
- Maintain compliance with codes including BICSI and NEC standards while working on systems
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely to install equipment racks, cable trays, and electrical components
- Provide field service support by diagnosing problems on-site and repairing or replacing faulty equipment efficiently
- Ensure all installations meet customer specifications while delivering excellent customer service throughout the process
Experience
- Proven experience as a service technician or installer specializing in low voltage systems or telecommunications infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with CCTV installation, fiber splicing, network wiring (including Cat5/Cat6), and telephony systems such as VoIP and Avaya
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN setup, Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and network diagnostics
- Familiarity with schematics interpretation, wiring standards (BICSI), and testing methods
- Ability to operate diagnostic tools like Fluke Certifiers, EXFO OTDRs/OLTS, ohmmeters and RF testers accurately for troubleshooting purposes
- Prior work experience in data centers or large-scale telecommunication environments preferred
- Knowledge of safety standards combined with the ability to work safely with power tools and electrical systems
