Duties
- Prepare cabinet surfaces through sanding, cleaning, and surface preparation techniques suitable for finishing processes such as painting, staining, or coating.
- Apply finishes using various methods including spray painting (airless paint spraying), hand tools, or powder coating techniques to achieve smooth, even coatings.
- Operate and maintain finishing equipment such as spray guns, powder coat systems, and air compressors while adhering to safety protocols.
- Use precision measuring instruments and visual color comparison tools to ensure color consistency and finish quality across all cabinetry components.
- Follow strict quality standards in production by inspecting finished surfaces for defects, blemishes, or inconsistencies and making necessary adjustments.
- Handle materials safely using forklifts, cranes, or other warehouse equipment while adhering to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements such as respirators and respiratory protection.
- Collaborate with fabrication and assembly teams to ensure seamless workflow and timely completion of projects in a lean manufacturing environment.
Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, machining equipment, and fabrication techniques relevant to finishing cabinetry.
- Mechanical knowledge related to operating finishing machinery, welding equipment, and auto body repair techniques when needed.
- Experience with industrial painting processes including auto painting, construction painting surface preparation, and auto body repair.
- Knowledge of quality standards in production environments to maintain high-quality finishes consistently.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and use precision measuring instruments for accurate application of finishes.
- Familiarity with materials handling procedures using forklifts or cranes within warehouse or manufacturing settings.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency while maintaining safety standards.
