Job Title: Medical Assistant
Reports To: Nurse Practitioners & Practice Manager
Pay: 17 - 23hr
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Location: Wilmington, NC
The Medical Assistant supports providers and staff by delivering high-quality patient care, assisting with clinical procedures, and ensuring efficient daily operations. This role works closely with an MD and a partnering Medical Assistant to support patient flow and maintain a collaborative care environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care and assist with exams and procedures
- Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies
- Perform clinical tasks including EKGs and in-house testing (A1C, INR, UA, strep, flu, COVID)
- Communicate lab and diagnostic results to patients within 48 hours
- Return patient calls promptly and address questions professionally
- Accurately document patient information in EMR and maintain records
- Coordinate scheduling and manage patient flow efficiently
- Order labs, imaging, and diagnostic tests as directed by providers
- Educate patients and escalate concerns to providers or management as needed
- Clean and disinfect exam rooms and equipment daily
- Support front desk and clinical team as needed
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives
- Partnered with a Physician (MD) and an additional Medical Assistant for support and training
- Manage a daily caseload of approximately 18-20 patients
- Nationally Certified Medical Assistant
- Current BLS certification
- Strong clinical and patient care skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Highly organized with strong multitasking skills
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
- Experience with EMR systems (eClinicalWorks preferred)
- Clinical setting with moderate noise levels
- Prolonged standing, walking, and computer use
- Ability to lift supplies and perform routine clinical tasks
- Exposure to patients, medical conditions, and cleaning agents
