What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Financial Officer position at Phaxis?
The Opportunity
A privately held, project-driven manufacturing company is hiring a CFO to modernize its finance function and drive the next phase of growth. This is a hands-on strategic role reporting directly to the CEO as a core member of the executive team.
Core Responsibilities
- Partner with CEO on financial strategy, capital allocation, and long-range business planning
- Own budgeting and forecasting, with a focus on improving accuracy and turnaround time
- Oversee accounting operations and ensure timely, GAAP-compliant reporting
- Build out job/project-level costing and profitability analysis — this isn't a standard-margin business, so P&L visibility has to go down to the project or product line
- Manage treasury, banking relationships, and debt structure; own working capital strategy across a business with real inventory and cash-conversion-cycle complexity
- Lead inventory management and purchasing practices in partnership with operations
- Evaluate and improve ERP utilization — better integration between financial and operational systems is a priority, not a nice-to-have
- Design KPI reporting and dashboards that give leadership real-time operational and financial visibility
- Strengthen internal controls and standardize financial processes across the org
- Assess, mentor, and build out the finance/accounting team — this is as much a talent and org-design mandate as a financial one
Candidate Profile
- CFO, VP Finance, or Corporate Controller background
- Manufacturing, industrial, or project-based/construction-adjacent environment
- Track record leading financial transformation
- Strong cost accounting, inventory, and working capital experience
- ERP systems experience and process improvement mindset
- Hands-on, data-driven, high-integrity operator who can build trust while driving change
Salary : $240,000 - $270,000
