Position Summary

We are seeking multiple Field Construction Managers to oversee on-site construction activities for major power infrastructure projects across the state of New York. The FCM is responsible for day-to-day supervision of civil, electrical, and mechanical construction work, ensuring that all activities comply with safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements. This position serves as the key interface between field teams, contractors, and project leadership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily construction operations, coordinating subcontractors and ensuring field work aligns with project plans and technical specifications.
  • Track progress against the project schedule, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings, weekly progress meetings, and maintain two-week lookahead schedules.
  • Review contractor invoices, manage material deliveries, and maintain accurate as-built documentation.
  • Oversee on-site inspections to ensure work quality and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Review and enforce contractor Health and Safety Plans, ensuring full compliance with OSHA and site-specific requirements.
  • Monitor and document environmental compliance, including inspections, reporting, and corrective actions in collaboration with regulatory agencies (e.g., EPA, NYSDEC).
  • Track and manage field change orders, RFIs, design revisions, and claims; maintain documentation in ProjectWise and SAP.
  • Validate material submittals, test results, and inspection records to support project closeout.
  • Coordinate outage requests and field work with utility operators through E-STAR or CONVEX systems.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and turnover activities by ensuring readiness and proper documentation.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports summarizing progress, safety, and quality metrics.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent technical experience.
  • 10 years of relevant field experience in construction management, testing, commissioning, or maintenance within the power or utility sector.
  • Strong understanding of substation, transmission, and distribution systems, including relay protection and SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of NERC, CIP, NEC, NESC, FERC, and OSHA standards.
  • Demonstrated experience with outage coordination and field safety audits.
  • Proficiency in ProjectWise, SAP, and related project management tools.
  • Certifications required: OSHA 30-Hour Training, First Aid/AED, and valid driver’s license; must pass background check per IUSA contractor policy.
  • Some Field Construction Manager positions will also require NICET Level II certification and NERC certification.
