The Electrical Program Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality, hands-on training in electrical theory, safety, and practical applications to youth and adult learners enrolled in pre-apprenticeship or workforce training programs. The instructor plays a key role in preparing participants for entry-level employment or apprenticeships in the electrical trade by combining classroom instruction with real-world skills development in alignment with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with NCCER, OSHA, or state-aligned curriculum standards.
- Deliver engaging instruction in electrical systems, safety protocols, blueprint reading, circuitry, tools, and installation methods.
- Supervise and evaluate students during lab work, hands-on activities, and assessments.
- Maintain classroom and lab safety, equipment, and supplies.
- Integrate soft skills training such as professionalism, time management, and communication into technical instruction.
- Assess student progress, provide regular feedback, and maintain accurate records of attendance and performance.
- Support student success by participating in case conferences, job readiness events, and credentialing preparation.
Job Descriptions
- Ensure compliance with all training guidelines, organizational policies, and grant requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the electrical trade.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
- Strong communication, instructional, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work with diverse populations, including opportunity youth and adult learners.
- Preferred: Licensed Master or Journeyman Electrician.
- Preferred: Experience as an instructor, trainer, or mentor in a technical or vocational setting.
- Preferred: NCCER Instructor Certification or willingness to obtain.
- Familiarity with pre-apprenticeship programs or industry credentialing frameworks.
