Repossession Agent – Phase 1 Recovery

Location: Multiple Locations Throughout NC & SC
Position Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $50,000–$75,000 per year based on performance

About Us

Phase 1 Recovery is a professional asset recovery and repossession company operating throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. We are seeking motivated, professional, and self-driven individuals to join our team as Repossession Agents.

Repossession Agents are responsible for locating and recovering vehicles for financial institutions while maintaining strict compliance with all state and federal laws, company policies, and client expectations. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, professionalism under pressure, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.

Compensation includes performance-based earning opportunities with significant growth potential for motivated agents.

Job Responsibilities
Asset Location & Recovery

  • Locate and recover vehicles assigned by financial institutions and forwarding companies
  • Utilize industry software, camera systems, skip tracing tools, and investigative techniques to locate collateral
  • Conduct thorough investigations to determine vehicle whereabouts
  • Recover collateral safely and efficiently while minimizing risk and damage
  • Coordinate with transporters, lot staff, and office personnel throughout the recovery process

Legal Compliance

  • Ensure all repossession activities comply with state and federal laws and regulations
  • Follow all company policies, client requirements, and compliance standards
  • Maintain professionalism and proper conduct during all recovery attempts
  • Stay informed on changes in repossession laws, procedures, and industry standards

Communication & Customer Interaction

  • Communicate professionally with debtors, clients, law enforcement, and team members
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques during difficult situations
  • Attempt voluntary surrenders when appropriate
  • Maintain calm and professional behavior during stressful interactions

Documentation & Technology

  • Complete accurate and detailed reports of all recovery activity
  • Upload required photos, condition reports, and documentation in real time
  • Utilize repossession software, GPS systems, camera systems, and mobile applications daily
  • Maintain accurate notes and communication records for all accounts

Equipment & Vehicle Responsibility

  • Safely operate company repossession vehicles and equipment
  • Complete daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns immediately
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper care of company vehicles and equipment
  • Follow all safety procedures during towing and recovery operations

Schedule & Field Operations

  • Work a combination of daytime, nighttime, and weekend shifts
  • Respond to changing assignments and priorities throughout shifts
  • Meet productivity expectations and performance standards
  • Operate independently while maintaining communication with management and dispatch

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age of 23 with clean driving history
  • Must pass background check and drug screening
  • Must be insurable under company commercial insurance policy
  • Prior repossession, towing, recovery, investigative, military, law enforcement, or related experience preferred but not required
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
  • Strong problem-solving and investigative abilities
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Willingness to work flexible and irregular hours, including nights and weekends
  • Familiarity with repossession software and technology preferred
  • CARS certification preferred but not required
