Job Purpose

Here, everyone matters, and you will be a vital contributor to our inspiring, bold mission. As Director, Medical Excellence and Training, you will be empowered to drive strategic and operational alignment of product and disease state training for Commercial and Medical teams. You’ll serve as the strategist for how new product training is developed and serve as the project lead for workshops for company-wide meetings.

Duties And Responsibilities

Training

  • Lead the development of high-quality clinical education materials and training plans, for both Medical and Commercial audiences, to drive a consistent and deep understanding of PTI products, respective disease states, and other data aligned with scientific platforms.
  • In partnership with the Director, Training & Development, design and refine new hire training programs for all field-facing team members. This includes both home study and live on-site training.
  • Conduct extensive learning needs assessment on both clinical and power skills with Medical team members. Develop individualized learning plans based on these assessments.
  • Facilitate live trainings on Teams for both Commercial and Medical audiences, engaging learners with knowledge checks, discussion, and questions.
  • Liaise with content development vendors on creation and revision of modules, providing detailed specifications on content and learning goals.
  • Explore and implement innovative learning methods like AI, web-based tools, and multi-media to offer engaging learning experiences for all field-facing teams
  • Evaluate effectiveness of learning through confidence and motivation surveys, employee interviews, and certifications
  • Partner with Medical Affairs team to organize learning opportunities at Annual Business Meetings and other company-wide meetings. Operate as a project manager that sets timelines, communicates and manages deliverables, and manages budgets to ensure on-time, high-quality execution
  • Stay current on clinical education trends, including new methods from sources such as conferences, trade publications, and webinars
  • Partner with Senior Medical Affairs Leadership to
    • Drive strategic and operational alignment of Field Medical programs, including MSL team and Clinical Nurse Liaison (CNL) team
    • Maintain standards and consistency for the role of Field Medical
    • Ensure successful execution of training designed to build functional skills and behaviors to meet the evolving business needs
    • Input into the global Field Medical Affairs plan, working jointly with global counterparts on shared initiatives
Medical Excellence

  • In partnership with Medical Affairs leadership, define a vision, priorities, and a performance excellence roadmap
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs leadership by aligning on continuous refinement of Medical team capabilities, maintaining ongoing awareness of current trends within the industry and compliance guidance to ensure appropriate activity and innovation
  • Compile and present KPIs and rubrics based on metrics extracted from CRM reports and needs assessment discussions with team managers
  • Partner with Medical Affairs stakeholders to develop and embed new technologies to support field interactions while leveraging digital solutions for analysis (e.g. AI) and reporting to optimize productivity, enable implementation, provide system and tools oversight (e.g. CRM/Veeva) to enhance capabilities of field medical team members
  • Conduct field rides with MSL and Clinical Nurse Liaison (CNL) team members gathering insight on performance capabilities
  • Work cross-functionally with other PTI departments to develop aligned strategic plans, ensuring seamless interface between the MSL and CNL teams and other PTI functions, and maximize MSL and CNL contributions to overall business objectives
  • Support Field Medical activities such as insight gathering and speaker training
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant PTI SOPs, policies, and procedures across the Field Medical Team activities
  • Attend both learning and clinical association conferences, the latter to observe Medical Excellence capabilities among Medical team members and keep current on industry trends

Education And Professional Background

  • Advanced degree in health or life sciences-related field such as a PharmD, MD, NP, Ph.D., Masters degree or international equivalents
  • Eight years of healthcare or related experience (clinical practice, research, academic or market access) which should include 5 years of experience in a Field Medical organization within Medical Affairs in the pharmaceutical industry

Competencies And Skills

  • Proven track record of strong strategic thought leadership, teamwork, innovation, project management and demonstrated ability to manage, lead and mentor individuals
  • Demonstrated understanding of US ethics & compliance, legal and regulatory guidelines of the pharmaceutical industry especially in relation to medical services and Field Medical initiatives
  • Ability to understand and align the needs from global, regional, and national perspectives
  • Proven ability to influence and have strong collaboration skills and change management with an ability to work successfully in a complex, global, matrix organization
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Veeva, and data analytics
  • Ability to oversee the creation of strategic, long-range plans that are aligned with strategies across the organization and to implement them successfully
  • Knowledge or certification in adult learning theories (ADDIE, ROPES, or others)

Salary : $220,000 - $245,000
