Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Director, Global Publications Lead, Gastroenterology to drive strategic publication planning and tactical execution for global medical affairs programs. This role will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to develop and deliver high-impact scientific communication strategies, ensuring compliant dissemination of clinical and medical data across global markets.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in publication planning, scientific communications, medical affairs, vendor management, and emerging AI-enabled tools that enhance publication workflows and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Scientific Publications Team meetings and annual workshops to develop strategic global publication plans.
- Drive innovative strategies for scientific data dissemination using AI-enabled tools and digital platforms.
- Provide regular updates to key stakeholders to support global and regional planning.
- Collaborate with external authors, journals, and internal stakeholders on publication execution.
- Ensure high scientific quality, alignment with medical strategy, and compliance with legal/regulatory standards.
- Manage third-party vendors to deliver publications on time and within budget.
- Oversee publication budgets and act as financial steward for deliverables and vendor utilization.
- Champion digital innovation in literature reviews, plain language summaries, and data visualization.
- Ensure adherence to publication standards such as GPP, ICMJE, COPE, CONSORT, STROBE, and PRISMA.
- Foster collaboration, diversity of thought, and open communication across global teams.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree: MD, PharmD, PhD, or Master’s in biomedical discipline or equivalent.
- 8-10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, with significant Medical Affairs exposure.
- 5-8 years in medical publications, communications, or related biopharma functions.
- Strong knowledge of clinical trial design, statistical methods, and data reporting requirements.
- Experience with publication management systems/software.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a global matrix environment.
- Strong vendor and budget management experience.
- Experience using AI tools and digital technologies in scientific communications.
Preferred Qualifications
- CMPP Certification.
- Experience in immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, especially Gastroenterology or psoriasis.
- Multicultural outlook with ability to work across diverse geographies and functions.
