Duties
- Assist in the planting, watering, pruning, and harvesting of crops to promote healthy growth and maximize yield.
- Monitor plant health regularly, identifying pests, diseases, or deficiencies and implementing appropriate solutions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of grow areas, including greenhouses and cultivation rooms.
- Operate farm machinery such as irrigation systems, forklifts, power tools, and heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on cultivation equipment; perform basic welding and equipment troubleshooting as needed.
- Manage inventory of growing supplies, tools, fertilizers, and other materials required for daily operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols related to heavy lifting, tool usage, chemical handling, and equipment operation.
- Collaborate with team members to implement cultivation schedules and improve growing techniques based on horticultural best practices.
- Assist with irrigation setup and adjustments to optimize water use efficiency across growing areas.
- Ability to work in areas that contain cannabis pollen (kief) and other plant matter (PPE to be provided)
- Support the supervision of junior staff by providing guidance on tasks such as plant care or equipment use.
Skills
- Proven supervising experience or leadership skills in agricultural or horticultural settings.
- Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery, power tools, irrigation systems, and equipment repair.
- Knowledge of farming principles including horticulture practices, greenhouse management, and crop cultivation techniques.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems and water management strategies for optimal plant growth.
- Experience working with farm machinery such as tractors or other large equipment is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of hand tools usage for maintenance or repair tasks; welding skills are a bonus.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to planting or chemical application.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely; physically fit for demanding tasks involving manual labor.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with proactive problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.
