Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Desktop Administrator to join our IT team. The Desktop Administrator will be responsible for the management, support, and optimization of all Windows 11 desktops and mobile devices within the organization. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune for device management, including mobile device management (MDM) for iPhones and Android devices, and expertise in supporting the Microsoft 365 (M365) application stack. The role requires proactive troubleshooting, efficient management of desktop environments, and ensuring end-users have access to the tools and resources they need to succeed in their roles.

 

Key Responsibilities:

· Windows 11 Desktop Management:

o Manage, configure, and maintain all Windows 11 desktops and laptops for end-users, ensuring they are secure, compliant, and up-to-date.

o Oversee the deployment of Windows 11 updates and patches using Microsoft Intune, ensuring systems are running the latest security patches and features.

o Configure and manage Windows Autopilot for device provisioning, allowing for streamlined setup and configuration of new Windows 11 devices.

o Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and operating system issues on Windows 11 desktops and laptops.

 

· Mobile Device Management (MDM):

o Manage and support mobile devices, including iPhones and Android devices, using Microsoft Intune as the MDM solution.

o Configure security policies, app deployments, and device restrictions to ensure mobile devices are compliant with corporate standards.

o Provide end-user support for mobile device issues, such as device enrollment, connectivity, and application configuration.

 

· Microsoft 365 Application Support:

o Provide end-user support for the Microsoft 365 (M365) suite of applications, including Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

o Assist users with issues related to M365 apps, such as login problems, app functionality, file syncing, and collaboration issues.

o Configure and troubleshoot settings for OneDrive for Business and SharePoint, ensuring seamless file access and collaboration.

 

· Device Provisioning & Deployment:

o Deploy and configure new desktops, laptops, and mobile devices for users using Intune, ensuring that devices meet corporate standards and security requirements.

o Manage Intune application deployment, ensuring that all required applications are installed and configured on devices in a timely manner.

o Perform regular audits of device compliance, ensuring that devices meet security standards and company policies.

 

· End-User Support and Troubleshooting:

o Provide tier 1 and tier 2 support to end-users for issues related to desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and M365 applications.

o Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and application issues in a timely manner, escalating to senior IT staff when necessary.

o Ensure prompt resolution of service requests and issues through the company’s service management system.

 

· Security and Compliance:

o Enforce security policies on desktops, laptops, and mobile devices to ensure compliance with corporate security standards.

o Configure and manage antivirus software, and other security solutions on all devices to prevent malware and unauthorized access.

o Use Intune compliance policies to ensure that all devices meet the necessary security and encryption requirements.

 

· Documentation and Reporting:

o Maintain accurate records of all desktop configurations, mobile devices, software installations, and system configurations.

o Create and update user guides, knowledge base articles, and troubleshooting documentation for common issues.

o Provide regular reports on device status, including compliance, security issues, and deployment progress.

 

· Collaboration and Training:

o Collaborate with the broader IT team to implement new desktop management technologies and improve workflows.

o Provide training and guidance to end-users on the effective use of desktop systems, mobile devices, and Microsoft 365 applications.

 

Qualifications:

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

 

· Experience:

o 2 years of experience in desktop administration, desktop support, or IT operations, with a focus on Windows 11 and Microsoft Intune.

o Experience in mobile device management (MDM) for iPhones and Android devices using Microsoft Intune.

o Hands-on experience with the Microsoft 365 suite, including Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and other productivity applications.

o Knowledge of Windows Autopilot for device provisioning and Intune Application Deployment.

 

· Skills:

o Proficiency in Windows 11 administration and configuration, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security.

o Experience with Intune for device management, application deployment, security policies, and compliance management.

o Strong knowledge of mobile device management (MDM), including app deployment, configuration, and security enforcement for iOS and Android.

o Familiarity with Active Directory, Azure Active Directory (AAD), and user/device management in cloud environments.

o Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve technical issues in a timely manner.

o Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to provide clear instructions and support to end-users.

 

· Certifications (Preferred, but not required):

o Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Fundamentals

o Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals

o Microsoft Certified: M365 Certified Modern Desktop Administrator Associate

o Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

o ITIL Foundation or similar service management certifications

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously.
