PGS Worldwide is seeking an experienced and security-cleared Linux/Windows Systems Administrator to join a classified support team in Linthicum, MD. This role supports mission-critical operations, helping maintain the infrastructure that powers next-generation aerospace and defense systems. This is an initial 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity, and I will respond immediately to all qualified candidates.
Job Description:
- Serve as a Linux (Red Hat Enterprise) and Windows Systems Administrator for a classified government environment
- Manage smooth operation of computer infrastructure across multi-user classified systems
- Install, patch, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows servers
- Support security compliance initiatives (STIGs, POA&Ms) and collaborate with Information Assurance teams
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, user accounts, and security access lists
- Support system backup, recovery, malware protection, and storage management
- Recommend and implement system enhancements for performance and reliability improvements
- Prepare and support security audits and vulnerability mitigation according to RMF, JSIG, and DoD security standards
- Interface with vendors, troubleshoot hardware/software, and ensure adherence to cybersecurity best practices
- Support configuration management and security for classified networks
- Maintain continuous compliance with DoD cybersecurity guidelines and corporate IT policies
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience, Associate’s degree with 4 years, or High School Diploma with 6 years of relevant experience
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security CE)
- Hands-on experience managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows Server domain architecture in a classified environment
- Familiarity with DoD STIGs, vulnerability management, and developing POA&Ms
- Active DoD Secret Security Clearance with a closed investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation (CE) program
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/SAR) within 9 months
- US Citizenship
Desired:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology or related field
- 2 years' experience administering Linux, Windows, and VMWare servers in a JSIG environment
- Understanding of RMF, ICD 503, NISPOM Chapter 8, and cybersecurity accreditation frameworks
- Hands-on experience with Cisco networking, Windows Active Directory, LDAP, SAN storage, and VMWare
- Familiarity with Solaris OS and security monitoring tools (e.g., HBSS, Splunk, SolarWinds)
- Scripting ability in Bash, PowerShell, or similar
- Experience with imaging, deployment, and system hardening processes
- Certification in relevant technologies (e.g., Windows, Linux, Cisco certifications)
