Description

Role
The metal fabrication position interprets mechanical drawings to determine the proper process or material used to fabricate a part using equipment such as a shear and brake press. This position reports to the Production Supervisor and is located in Niles, Illinois.
Duties and Responsibility
Select appropriate type of sheet metal, such galvanized steel, copper, and stainless steel
Measure appropriate size of sheet metal
Cut sheet metal by hand or using power shears
Cut into shapes to be used in Pump Tank Systems
Interpret blueprints
Bend sheet metal to form shapes
Drill / punch holes in metal
Smooth over rough edges with file
Install components as needed in fabricated parts
Operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls to cut bend, block and form or straighten materials
Install assemblies in supportive framework
Use scribers, dividers, and squares to mark dimensions on materials
Inspect work and / or assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications
Requirements
- Experience with overhead cranes
- Experience with brake press operation, shear operation and using punch presses
- Position typically expects three (3) to five (5) years of direct/relevant experience
- Material Handling / Forklift operation experience
- Use of small hand and pneumatic hand tools
- Excellent math skills
- Must be detail-oriented
- Effective communication skills
- Must have a positive attitude and foster a continuous improvement environment
- Operate machinery safely in accordance with Thermal Care’s safety policy
