Primary Responsibilities

· Lead second-shift employees and maintain a visible, consistent presence on the production floor.

· Review the production schedule and first-shift handoff, establish shift priorities, and communicate clear expectations at the start of the shift.

· Assign employees and machines based on production needs, employee qualifications, available capacity, due dates, and operational constraints.

· Monitor work throughout the shift and adjust staffing, assignments, and priorities when production conditions change.

· Track job progress, output, downtime, scrap, rework, labor utilization, and schedule completion; act promptly when performance moves off plan.

· Coordinate the flow of material, tooling, fixtures, documentation, inspection, and support resources needed to keep scheduled work moving.

· Provide practical floor support with questions, machine alarms, dimensional issues, and other routine machining problems.

· Set expectations for attendance, productivity, quality, safety, housekeeping, teamwork, and workplace conduct, and address concerns consistently.

· Coach employees in real time, provide constructive feedback, recognize strong performance, and document or escalate recurring performance concerns.

· Ensure required first-piece, in-process, and final inspection activities are completed and documented before work advances.

· Maintain accurate shift records and provide a complete handoff covering production status, staffing, downtime, quality concerns, and unfinished priorities.

· Support continuous improvement in workflow, standard work, setup coordination, scrap prevention, and machine utilization.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

· Demonstrated experience leading, coordinating, or directing employees in a manufacturing or production environment.

· Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work, manage changing demands, and keep multiple jobs moving.

· Ability to communicate expectations clearly, provide feedback, resolve routine employee concerns, and hold employees accountable.

· Sound judgment and the ability to make timely production decisions when first-shift leadership is not present.

· Working knowledge of manufacturing documentation, production schedules, job travelers, work instructions, and quality requirements.

· Solid working knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, fixtures, offsets, precision measurement, and common production issues.

· Ability to assist operators with routine machining problems and recognize when a more complex programming, engineering, quality, or maintenance issue must be escalated.

· Basic computer skills, including email, production reporting, and Microsoft Office applications.

· Availability to work the complete second-shift schedule and additional hours when operational needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

· Previous experience as a Production Supervisor, Shift Supervisor, Team Lead, Cell Lead, or similar manufacturing leader.

· Experience coordinating production in a CNC machining, close-tolerance, high-mix, low-volume, or custom manufacturing environment.

· Experience supporting horizontal machining centers, palletized equipment, or similar CNC production operations.

· Experience tracking production performance, downtime, scrap, labor utilization, and schedule completion.

· Experience training employees, supporting performance management, and working within a documented quality-management system.
