Department Overview
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) Electric Operations (EO) ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E’s electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.
Position Summary
Electric Distribution Operations (EDO) is looking for talented summer intern to help support the construction and maintenance of distribution assets. This position will be in support of PG&E’s Electric Distribution Field Operations. As an Engineering Intern, you will be:
- Performing Construction Management Tasks (ordering material, coordinating outages, clearing project dependencies)
- Identify process improvement and analysis for work bundling and efficiency opportunities
- Reviewing reliability of distribution circuits and help prioritize construction
- Developing innovative solutions to help drive Circuit Reliability
- Supporting in Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) or OEC activations
The successful intern will have the opportunity to lead and/or support activities as described above working with the team. Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger EO organization through the work they will be performing.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $18.43 to $35.11
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earning a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering field (students must be continuing education towards degree during and/or after the internship).
- Must have a valid driver’s license or obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date.

- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
- Experience in related construction field
