Job Description:

Summary:

The Estimator is responsible for supporting the Special Projects Division and Preconstruction Managers in the solicitation of projects to subs, internal take-off and special projects estimates. This position will be responsible for managing subcontractor bids, assembling estimates, and the scope review process. This position will also be responsible for utilizing technologies during the preconstruction and the construction processes. This position will work closely with project teams and leadership to align preconstruction/construction services to the overall goal of providing the highest level of customer service and professionalism to our clients.

Responsibilities:

Overall:

· Request, obtain, review, and compile all Special Project bids.

· Partner/Collaborate with Preconstruction managers in formulating bids, proposals and processes for Commercial, Custom Homes, and Winter Park divisions.

· Complete prequalification packages and all requirements stated in bid solicitation.

· Attend bid walks, preconstruction meetings, and weekly team meetings.

· Perform all unit takeoffs for various scopes.

· Publication of bid solicitations to prospective sub trades.

Estimating:

· Review and understand project documents.

· Complete on-screen takeoff of project quantities for all divisions of work in the commercial construction industry.

· Preparation of internal estimates based on use of historical cost information from bids/completed work.

· Complete design review/analysis to identify value engineering opportunities

· Preparation of proposal information for clients.

· Transmit addenda and other bid information to subcontractors.

· Ensure proper coverage from subcontractors on bid day.

· Develop RFI’s and clarifications and ensure adequate subcontractor coverage.

· Create bid lists that fit scope of job, ensuring the right subs for the project.

· Thoroughly check requirements to buy the proper scope.

· Ensure that subs are aware of (and commit to) the project schedule.

Accounting/Project Management:

· Monitor labor and material costs to maximize profits of all jobs.

· Process invoices for SP work to bill clients.

· Work with company controller for internal invoices processing and management.

· Coordinate with Project Team – Project Manager and Superintendent on managing individual project budgets.

Knowledge and Experience:

· Education: BS in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture is preferred.

· Required Knowledge: must be versed in the principles and practices of construction cost estimating.

· Software Requirements: Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is mandatory and familiarity with construction software such as Bluebeam, Onscreen Take-off, BIM360, Revit, Navisworks and/or other construction management/coordination applications.

· Experience Required: 3-7 years’ experience in Preconstruction, estimating and project management application with a commercial General Contractor.

Skills and Abilities:

· Strong technical understanding of construction, design documentation.

· High drive for the application of technology to improve the preconstruction and construction process.

· High drive to succeed coupled with excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

· Ability to coordinate with professional and sub-professional project teams.

· Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks to manage multiple projects concurrently.

· Strong computing skills to run office software packages.

Work Environment:

· Work will be in the Louisville Office with trips to pre-proposal/bid meetings, project site visits and preconstruction design meetings.

Requirements:

· Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License

· Must have a clean criminal record for work within educational facilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
