Line Maintenance Technician (7pm-7am/Nights) **$29hr+** No Mandatory Overtime!

Purpose and role of job:

Responsible for providing maintenance support for the facility and leadership of shift mechanics. This role will be the primary point of contact for all shift maintenance trouble calls, work prioritization and assignments to shift technicians. The successful Shift Lead will also understand line performance metrics and the role that maintenance plays in their improvement. This role reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, indirectly to Maintenance Manager, and collaborates closely with all plant departments and stakeholders.

Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:

·         Notifies appropriate personnel of real or potential safety hazards or violations and takes immediate corrective action when necessary.

·         Ensures team compliance to FQN plant policies, procedures, protocols, quality assurance programs and organizational directives.

·         Leads and assists in all shift activities, including coordinating, planning, answering troubles calls, problem-solving, repairs, and work prioritization for team members. This also includes proper documentation and completion of all emergency maintenance, corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance type work orders.

·         Conducts and leads effective team meetings and training activities; i.e. daily shift turnover, equipment improvement meetings, mentor and/or train new hires, etc.

·         Promotes constructive interpersonal relationships between all team members.

·         Recognizes positive and productive behaviors of maintenance personnel and provides feedback to the Maintenance Supervisor and Manager.

·         Provides constructive feedback on technician’s performance to Maintenance Supervisor for quarterly and annual reviews.

·         Coaches and counsels individuals on performance issues and opportunities for improvement under guidance of Maintenance Supervisor or Manager

·         When assigning tasks, ensures clear and adequate direction and clarity as to the purpose and outcomes of assigned tasks.

·         Ensures collaborative and productive relationships and communications between teams (both intra & interdepartmental) and to all customers.

·         Expects, accepts, and leads change as part of any dynamic organizational environment.

·         Supports participation in training programs by all team members, contributing in the evaluation to ensure the training has been completed and understood by all team members.

·         Displays initiative and insight with respect to problem solving methods and follows through on actions as a result from recommended solutions.

·         Promotes problem solving, utilizing available tools; i.e. MES, Infor, 5 Why, RCA, etc.

·         Clearly outlines and defines self-improvement opportunities, as well as his team members and equipment / processes.

·         Every Maintenance Shift Lead will subscribe to the philosophy of treating every individual with respect and dignity at all times.

·         In coordination with the Maintenance Supervisor, determines the best use of personnel during absence or vacation coverage.

·         Written/Documentation

o   Accurately and consistently completes all required documentation.

o   Written communication is clear, accurate, complete and timely.

·         Ability to work independently, self-supervised, with little direct oversight.

·         Ensures that daily shop housekeeping checklists are completed as assigned.

·         Ensures that line inspection checklists are completed as assigned.

·         Staggers the breaks of the Shift Team members for proper floor call coverage.

·         Completes shift reports and communicates the shift reports to all maintenance personnel and production line managers.

·         Performs other duties as necessary when directed to do so.

Education and experience requirements:

·         HS diploma or equivalent required.

·         Preferred three years or more technical/maintenance experience in process manufacturing environment, preferably FQN.

·         Demonstrated leadership skills and success working effectively in demanding work environments.

·         Very good overall knowledge of plant equipment and processes.

·         Proficient in troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical equipment issues, seeking training for skills gaps.

·         Excellent organizational skills.

·         Ability to communicate fluently in English, both written and verbal.

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills.

·         Able to perform assigned duties without direct supervision.

Work Environment:

Observes all safety rules and uses the proper safety equipment at all times.

Physical Requirements:

• Walk / stand 100% of time during a 12–hour shift.
• Constant bending, kneeling, and climbing throughout shift.
• Constant climbing and reaching into machines to fix jams.
• Frequent reaching overhead during shift.
• Constant pushing and pulling with arms and legs throughout shift.
• Constant lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Constant use of hands and occasional use of foot control.
• Constant light and firm grasping with hands throughout shift.
• Operation of roll manipulators, baler, and compactor.
• Daily sweeping and organizing floor and work area.
• Required participation in a daily pre-shift warm-up routine.
