As a Crater, you’ll be responsible for building crates and loading finished fabricated components into the crates to ensure that they are able to be shipped without damage in a timely, cost effective and consistent manner in accordance with company procedures and policies and external customer requirements.

- Ability to handle multiple, competing priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines while producing accurate and high-quality detail work.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Receives and follows work orders to build crates and load with finished components, completing all work orders in a safe, timely and efficient manner, meeting all delivery deadlines.
- Collects all materials and equipment to build crates including lumber, nailer, tape measure and work orders.
- Reads and comprehends all work instructions, measurements and safe equipment operation instructions and follows established procedures to complete work.
- Cuts lumber to correct lengths, using chop saw, aligns crating components and nails in place accurately and in a safe and structurally sound manner.
- Checks fabricated components for accuracy and quality before crating and touches up paint using spray paint where needed.
- Wraps and/or bands the crated materials ensuring that it is securely packaged for shipment.
- Loads the correct fabricated components into the crate, marking the crate and documenting the work order.
- Moves finished and crated products to the staging areas for loading according to the shipping schedule for on-time delivery using a forklift.
- Cleans and maintains an organized work area including sweeping and storage of tools.
- Completes all required paperwork, quality checks, documentation, etc.
- Recommends upgrades, repair or replacement of equipment to ensure consistent and reliable operation.
- Works safely and follows all company safety rules.
