About the Role:
The Senior Vice President of Energy Storage is a key executive leader responsible for defining, driving, and executing the company’s strategy for battery energy storage systems (BESS) and related technologies. This role oversees commercial development, product strategy, technology roadmap, project execution, and P&L performance for the energy storage business unit. The SVP is accountable for positioning the company as a market leader in energy storage across C&I, microgrid, and/or distributed energy markets.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a multi-year vision and strategy for the company’s energy storage portfolio.
- Evaluate emerging technologies (Li-ion, LFP, flow batteries, thermal, hydrogen, hybrid systems).
- Lead long-range planning, market forecasting, competitive positioning, and portfolio optimization.
Commercial & Market Development
- Drive revenue growth through new market entry, strategic partnerships, utility engagements, and channel expansion.
- Oversee origination, pricing strategy, proposal development, and contract negotiation for storage projects and solutions.
- Build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders: utilities, IPPs, developers, regulators, EPCs, and technology partners.
Product & Technology Management
- Define product requirements, performance targets, safety standards, and lifecycle cost objectives.
- Oversee engineering and product teams to ensure compliant, bankable, and cost-competitive solutions.
- Monitor technology trends, supply chain shifts, and regulatory developments.
Operations & Project Delivery
- Ensure successful execution of energy storage projects from development through commissioning.
- Oversee supply chain strategy, vendor qualification, and manufacturing partnerships.
Financial Oversight
- Own P&L for the energy storage business unit.
- Drive margin enhancement, cost optimization, and scalable business models (EPC, turnkey systems, software, energy-as-a-service).
- Support capital allocation, investment decisions, and board-level reporting.
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams across engineering, product management, commercial, and operations.
- Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in energy storage, renewable energy, power markets, or advanced energy technologies.
- Proven executive-level leadership with P&L responsibility.
- Deep knowledge of BESS systems: battery chemistries, inverters, EMS/controls, EPC delivery, and grid interconnection.
- Strong network across utilities, IPPs, regulators, OEMs, and integrators.
- Demonstrated success in scaling business units or launching new products/markets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and strategic planning skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Experience with utility-scale project development or large-scale manufacturing.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (FERC, NERC, CAISO, ERCOT, PJM, EU/UK markets, etc.).
- Experience with software-driven optimization, AI-enabled asset management, or virtual power plants (VPPs).
