Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Veterinarian role based in Portland, ME. The Veterinarian will provide high-quality medical, surgical, and dental care for companion animals while applying Fear Free principles to minimize stress and anxiety for patients and clients. Daily responsibilities include conducting physical exams, diagnosing conditions, recommending treatment plans, performing procedures, and ensuring accurate medical record documentation. The role involves collaborating closely with veterinary technicians and support staff, communicating clearly and compassionately with pet families, and educating clients about preventive care, nutrition, and long-term health. The Veterinarian will also participate in hospital protocols, contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace culture, and support continuous improvement in patient care and client service.

Qualifications
- Clinical veterinary skills, including physical examination, diagnostics, treatment planning, and routine surgery and dentistry.
- Strong client communication and education skills, with the ability to explain diagnoses, options, and preventive care in clear, empathetic terms.
- Commitment to Fear Free or low-stress handling techniques, patient advocacy, and compassionate care for pets and their families.
- Ability to work collaboratively with veterinary technicians and support staff, contributing to a respectful, team-oriented environment.
- Solid organizational and time-management skills to manage caseloads, medical records, and follow-up care efficiently.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) degree and active veterinary license (or eligibility) in the state of Maine.
- Interest in ongoing professional development, staying current with veterinary best practices and emerging treatments.
- Experience in small animal practice and prior exposure to Fear Free or similar approaches is highly beneficial.
