What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farmworkers & Laborers, Crop, Nursery, Greenhouse position at Pettit Seed Farms LLC?
Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties found in SOC Code 45-2092 Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery, and Greenhouse such as: Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops such as working with bins and augers to load carts and trailers, operating Bench Industry cleaner to remove broken seeds and foreign material in preparation for marketing; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery (much of which is equipped with GPS) such as skid steer, sprayer, tillage tool to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops such as hay, wheat, milo, cotton; Load inputs and drive trucks to transport to fields, load crops and drive trucks to transport to fields and storage facilities such as elevators, bins, silos, piles/bags; Operate scales and unloading facilities. Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; Regulate conditions; Haul and spread fertilizer, and other materials to condition soil; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; Mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery; Attach implements using hand tools; Weigh containers and record weights and identifying information. Set up, Maintain and repair irrigation equipment including pumps and pivots. Operate drones to monitor crop health, growth and pest infestations, and apply targeted treatments.
