In this role, youll work alongside the Survey Party Chief and survey crew to execute precise construction layout, manage equipment and materials, and maintain the high standards of quality and safety that define Petticoat-Schmitt projects across the Southeast.

What Youll Do
Field Operations & Layout

Assist the Survey Party Chief in executing construction layout and survey tasks safely and efficiently.

Supervise and coordinate with rod personnel to ensure accuracy and productivity.

Perform survey computations, interpret plans and elevations, and support layout for roadways, utilities, and grading.

Conduct finish grading, as-built, and record surveys as directed.
Equipment & Quality Control

Set up, operate, and maintain survey instruments including total stations, GPS units, and data collectors.

Manage equipment and materials to ensure readiness and accuracy.

Uphold quality control standards and verify that work aligns with plans and specifications.
Communication & Coordination

Communicate clearly with the Survey Party Chief, superintendents, and project teams to align efforts.

Support the Survey Manager and Superintendent with accurate daily documentation and data collection.

Adapt to changing jobsite conditions and assist with other survey duties as needed.
What Were Looking For
Skills & Experience

Strong understanding of construction plans and their application to survey work.

Knowledge of layout principles, control setup, and survey computations.

Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble, or Topcon survey systems a plus.

Reliable, punctual, and committed to working safely as part of a high-performing team.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.

Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs and working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Must be able to hear, recognize, and respond to jobsite sounds and signals.

Work Schedule

Hours: MondayFriday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Workweek: 40 hours; overtime may be required depending on project needs.
