Your Responsibilities As a Dump Truck Driver
As a Dump Truck Driver at Petticoat-Schmitt, you’ll play a critical role in keeping projects on schedule and ensuring safe and efficient material transport.
- Operate dump trucks equipped with hydraulic beds to haul and unload loose materials such as dirt, sand, gravel, crushed rock, asphalt, and other aggregates.
- Verify load types, quantities, and weights before transport.
- Maintain accurate records of materials hauled and submit tickets to the project coordinator.
- Communicate effectively with foremen and superintendents to ensure timely delivery of materials to each jobsite.
- Maintain your vehicle through daily inspections, regular cleaning, and prompt reporting of maintenance needs.
- Follow all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and Petticoat-Schmitt safety standards.
- Arrive on time, ready to work, and complete deliveries according to project schedules.

Requirements For The Dump Truck Driver Position
- Valid CDL Class A license required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating dump trucks in construction or heavy civil environments.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Strong understanding of DOT safety requirements and vehicle operation.
- Ability to read and understand job tickets and project instructions.
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to commute within a 70-mile radius of Jacksonville, FL.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
