What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Intelligence Analyst position at PetStore.Direct?
About Us
PetStore.Direct is a fast-growing e-commerce distributor of professional pet grooming tools, equipment, accessories, and shampoos. We support grooming professionals across the U.S. with best-in-class products and top-tier customer service.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to own the company data across PetStore.Direct and our family of brands. This role isn’t just about building dashboards — it’s about taking full ownership of how data is collected, defined, and used to drive decisions.
You will be the guardian of company data and the translator of insights, ensuring that everyone from leadership to marketing, operations, and fulfillment has the clarity they need. If you’re passionate about turning numbers into stories that influence action, this is your seat.
What You’ll Own
· Company Data Ownership → Define, manage, and enforce consistent KPI definitions across Shopify, GA4, Klaviyo, and TripleWhale (experience with TripleWhale is a plus) and much more.
· Scorecard & Dashboards → Build and maintain accurate, intuitive dashboards and deliver the weekly leadership scorecard (always on time, always accurate).
· Insights & Storytelling → Move beyond reporting to explain the why behind trends and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
· Cross-Functional Data Partnering → Work with Marketing, Ops, Fulfillment, and Product to identify growth and efficiency opportunities.
· Data Quality & Governance → Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and usability across systems.
Success Looks Like
· Leadership trusts the scorecard as the single source of truth.
· Teams actually use dashboards because they’re intuitive and actionable.
· You’re recognized as the company’s data owner and storyteller — the person who can explain what’s happening, why, and what to do next.
· Your insights contribute directly to higher conversion, faster fulfillment, stronger retention, and smarter marketing.
What You’ll Do Day-to-Day
· Build and automate dashboards in BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, or similar).
· Analyze key business metrics: conversion, AOV, CAC, MER, LTV, retention, fulfillment %, on-time shipping, error rates, etc.
· Investigate anomalies and present concise findings to leadership.
· Prepare and deliver the weekly Data & Insights Level 10 scorecard.
· Document and enforce metric definitions for consistency.
· Partner with teams to design experiments and measure impact.
What You Bring
· 3–6 years in BI, Analytics, or Data Science (e-commerce experience strongly preferred).
· Strong skills in BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Looker Studio, or Metabase).
· Proficiency in SQL and advanced Excel/Sheets.
· Familiarity with Shopify, GA4, Klaviyo (TripleWhale knowledge is a plus).
· Ability to perform cohort, funnel, retention, and attribution analysis.
· Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
Bonus Experience
· Exposure to data pipelines or warehouses (BigQuery, Redshift, dbt).
· Experience with forecasting or churn/LTV modeling.
· Understanding of e-commerce operations platforms (SKULabs, Gorgias, Aircall).
