Position Overview: An Excavation Crew General Laborer is responsible for performing a wide range of manual labor tasks on construction sites. This position primarily involves preparing areas for excavation, assisting with machine operations, and ensuring the work site is clean and safe. Key Responsibilities:
Excavation Support:
Assist in digging, trenching, and backfilling tasks using hand tools such as shovels, picks, and other excavation equipment.
Move, load, and unload materials as needed, ensuring proper handling and placement.
Material Handling and Site Clean-Up:
Receive job material deliveries, check for accuracy, and organize materials for efficient use on-site.
Perform regular site clean-up and debris removal to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Machinery Assistance:
Hook and unhook pipe and other materials for movement throughout the job site.
Assist with machinery operations, including signaling to heavy equipment operators and guiding the movement of machinery on-site.
Safety Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the safety of crew members and others on-site.
Maintain awareness of surroundings to prevent accidents and injuries.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and adhere to company safety standards.
General Physical Labor:
Perform physical labor including digging, lifting, and carrying heavy materials.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted is required.
Erosion Control and Site Preparation:
Assist in the installation and maintenance of erosion control measures, such as silt fences and diversions.
Level and clear work areas, ensuring all obstacles are removed prior to excavation work.
Maintenance and Tool Management:
Clean and maintain tools and equipment regularly to ensure proper function and longevity.
Qualifications:
Physical Ability: Must be able to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods.
