Job Title: AV Engineer
Location: Anaheim, California

Petroplan is partnered with a leading electrical contractor seeking an experienced AV Engineer to provide technical leadership and design expertise across a range of complex projects. This role offers the opportunity to lead design efforts, collaborate cross-functionally, and play a key part in delivering high-quality AV solutions from concept through construction.
Responsibilities:
- Lead AV system design efforts and supervise a small team of designers and CAD personnel (2–5 team members).
- Manage multiple small-to-mid sized projects or a large complex project.
- Develop project-specific AV specifications, sequences of operation, and system documentation.
- Review and process system/equipment submittals and support testing and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other project disciplines.
- Produce system single-line diagrams including conduit and cabling requirements.
- Participate in value engineering to optimize performance and cost.
- Identify and resolve design conflicts and provide technical oversight during construction.
- Interface with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Collaborate with project management to align design scope with budgets and schedules.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
- AVIXA CTS-I and CTS-D certifications required.
- 5 years of experience as an AV Systems Engineer or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of AV systems including audio/DSP, video distribution, control systems, digital signage, and projection.
- Experience with leading AV platforms (Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC, Shure, Epson, etc.).
- Familiarity with control system programming.
- Understanding of applicable building codes and industry standards.
- Strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- Crestron, Extron, or QSC certifications.
- Experience supporting commissioning and construction phases.
Salary : $120,000 - $160,000
