Shop Manager
Job Title: Shop Manager
Reports To: Operations Manager
Direct Reports: Diesel Mechanics, Shop Assistants, and other shop staff
Purpose:
Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the service shop, ensuring efficient workflow, high-quality repairs, and excellent customer service. The Shop Manager supervises the Diesel Mechanic team, manages shop resources, and upholds safety and operational standards for agricultural and construction equipment service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervises, schedules, and supports Diesel Mechanics and shop staff to ensure timely and accurate completion of repairs and maintenance.
- Oversees diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of John Deere, Kubota, Caterpillar, Bobcat, and similar equipment.
- Reviews and approves work plans, ensuring proper scoping and resource allocation for each job.
- Ensures compliance with safety protocols and company policies.
- Manages parts inventory, orders supplies, and tracks usage to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Coordinates field service calls and emergency repairs as needed.
- Communicates with customers regarding service needs, estimates, and job status.
- Maintains accurate records of work performed, inventory, and shop performance metrics.
- Provides technical guidance and training to mechanics and staff.
- Assists with administrative tasks, including budgeting, reporting, and staff evaluations.
- Collaborates with management to improve shop processes and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, vehicle systems, and repair procedures.
- Experience supervising a team in a service or repair environment.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with diagnostic software and shop management systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with agricultural and construction equipment preferred.
