Production Shift Supervisor – Food Manufacturing


Full-Time | Hourly | Non-Exempt

Location: Emeryville, CA

Pay Range: $32–$35/hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Full-time schedule, including at least one weekend day, Saturday or Sunday

Estimated Overtime: Currently approximately 2–4 hours per week, depending on business needs

Due to increased production volume and the creation of a fourth production team, we are opening a newly created Production Shift Supervisor position.


About the Role


The Production Shift Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of our production line and ensure that products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and according to our quality and food safety standards.


This is a hands-on leadership role. The ideal candidate must have previous experience managing or supervising employees on a production line, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.


The Production Shift Supervisor will lead production operators, manage daily priorities, support schedules and shift organization, monitor performance, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities


Supervise daily production activities on the assigned shift.

Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining safety, quality, efficiency, and yield targets.

Lead, train, coach, and motivate production operators.

Assign work, support job rotation, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback.

Support schedule management, timecard review, PTO coordination, and break compliance.

Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with food safety, GMP, and quality standards.

Identify and address quality issues, production deviations, and operational concerns.

Ensure production paperwork, records, and documentation are completed accurately and on time.

Promote a safe working environment and immediately address safety concerns.

Partner with Operations, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and other departments to ensure production needs are met.

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement.

Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.


Required Qualifications


Previous experience as a Supervisor, Lead, or Manager on a production line is required.

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role in manufacturing preferred.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Ability to coach, motivate, and develop hourly employees.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities during the shift.

Experience with automated production equipment preferred.

Must be available to work a full-time schedule including at least one weekend day, Saturday or Sunday.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.


Preferred Qualifications


Experience in the food manufacturing industry strongly preferred.

Knowledge of GMP, food safety regulations, quality standards, and production best practices.

Experience with lean manufacturing, process improvement, or waste reduction is a plus.

Experience in dessert, dairy, pudding, or refrigerated food production is a plus.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements


This position works in a manufacturing plant environment and may include exposure to noise, temperature variations, and food production equipment. The role requires regularly moving throughout the production area, standing and walking for extended periods, inspecting processes, addressing issues, and occasionally lifting or moving objects up to 50 lbs.

Compensation & Benefits


$32–$35/hour, depending on experience.

Full-time, hourly, non-exempt position.

Eligible for overtime.

Current estimated overtime is approximately 2–4 hours per week.
