The position is full-time working four 10-hour shifts. Call Required.

What You Will Do
Works under the supervision of the physicians and management team to care for patients within the CCIR department; completes procedures with CCIR and Radiology keeping patient safety as the focus; communicates with physicians regarding patient conditions, needs, and care plans; assists physicians and technologists as requested.
Provides direct patient care to adult through geriatric patient population. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Interventional Radiology Department. Communicates with the physicians on a regular basis and as needed about patient condition. Assists with maintenance of equipment and inventory. Assesses procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness. Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate pre-procedure documentation is accurate and reflects the procedure to be performed. Monitors, positions, and assists patient during procedure. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
Required Education
Graduate of accredited school of nursing
Preferred Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Required Skills
Texas license as a Registered Nurse. Certified in Basic Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Preferred Licensure/Registration/Certification
Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN)
Cardio-Vascular Certified RN (CVRN)
Required Experience
One year experience as a RN in a hospital Critical Care unit.
Preferred Experience
Greater than two years’ experience as a critical care nurse

Required Skills
- Strong organizational, interpersonal relationship, decision-making and patient care skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, positioning, techniques, and both radiation protection and safety standards.
- Excellent veni-puncture skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to determine when physician intervention is necessary.
- Ability to prepare and recover patient pre, intra, and post-procedure in Radiology and CCIR departments.
- Ability to deviate from normal techniques when necessary to develop new and better techniques to keep the department up to date.
