We are seeking an experienced Paralegal with a strong background in Massachusetts real estate law to support attorneys in residential and commercial real estate matters. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience handling transactions from contract through closing, preparing and reviewing legal documents, coordinating with clients, lenders, title companies, and government offices, and ensuring compliance with Massachusetts-specific legal and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support attorneys in residential and commercial real estate transactions from inception through post-closing.
- Draft, review, and manage legal documents including:
- Purchase and sale agreements
- Deeds
- Leases
- Closing disclosures and settlement statements
- Mortgage and financing documents
- Title and escrow documents
- Conduct title review, analyze title commitments, and help resolve title defects.
- Order and review municipal lien certificates, payoff statements, zoning documents, and tax records.
- Coordinate real estate closings, including scheduling, document execution, funding, and recording.
- Communicate with clients, lenders, brokers, title examiners, municipalities, and opposing counsel.
- Maintain transaction checklists, calendars, and deadlines to ensure timely completion of matters.
- Prepare closing binders and manage post-closing tasks, including recording and file audits.
- Ensure compliance with Massachusetts real estate procedures, recording requirements, and applicable lender guidelines.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of paralegal experience in real estate law, with substantial experience in Massachusetts transactions.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Massachusetts real estate closing practices
- Title review and clearance
- Registry of Deeds filings and recording procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal/case management software (Qualia is our current software).
- Familiarity with real estate closing, title, or document management platforms preferred.
