Job Description: Maintenance Worker
Join a mission-driven organization supporting veterans in a residential facility focused on recovery from mental health and substance use issues. The Maintenance Worker ensures a safe, functional, and clean environment, playing a vital role in maintaining the dignity and quality of life for those we serve.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance of facility systems, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC.
- Conduct frequent inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure safety and proper operation.
- Complete maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner, keeping accurate records.
- Assist with groundskeeping duties such as snow removal, landscaping, and garbage removal.
- Respond to after-hours or on-call maintenance needs, when necessary.
- Ensure common areas are clean, safe, and accessible at all times.
- Collaborate with program staff to maintain a safe and supportive environment for residents.
- Coordinate with licensed contractors when specialized services are required.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain OSHA and local compliance standards.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in building maintenance or a related field.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and electrical systems.
- Ability to interact respectfully with a diverse population, including individuals in recovery.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor.
- Valid NYS driver’s license preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: From $21.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week
