What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobile Diesel Mechanic position at Peter's Mobile Diesel Mechanic & Semi Truck Repair?
We are a 24 hour mobile service looking for a few Mobile Diesel Mechanics to mainly work on Semi Trucks. You will need your own transportation and tools. An understanding of Def Systems is a plus!
We are a thriving, reputable business with active advertising and plenty of work. If you are self motivated, knowledgeable and looking for extra income then this job might be your calling. Locations include most of Southern Illinois. We send our techs out to Effingham, Mount Vernon, Marion, Vandalia, New Baden, Grayville, Greenville, Mattoon and sometimes St. Louis.
Work whenever you want to!! Job is on-call based. We can get a call at anytime and any day. You decide!!! I can text or call you to setup a job when I get the call. Not feeling it that day? No worries just turn down the job and I'll contact you for the next one.
Techs will be paid for their drivetime from when they leave their home, working the job, picking up parts, finishing job, then drive back home. Your hourly stays the same when driving to and from breakdown, picking up parts, and fixing the trucks. Sometimes we just deliver parts. It all pays the same....
1. 1099 Form
A 1099 Form must be filled out before working with our company. I'm going to need a photo copy of your driver's license and social security card.
If you have a business LLC then instead of your Social security card I'll need a photo copy of your business articles of organization. That will have your business EIN and LLC file date and your driver's license.
(All of your information will be deleted on my end once I get the 1099 form filled out.)
2. Communication
Communication with me has to be number one!! Whatever is going on in your life I completely understand that your health, family, and personal matters come first. Most importantly I need you to be honest with me if it's not a good time to take calls. All you need to say is I'm unavailable right now. That can be by text or just not answering the phone when I call. I will never get upset because I understand that family and personal health is more important than any job.
3. ETA'S
What I need from you is your honest opinion on how long it'll take to get to the job so I can communicate with the company. All I'm asking from you is to be real with me. When I call you for a job I won't tell you a eta. I'm going to give you a location, then ask what your eta will be. After that I will tell the company the eta you've given to me. If I call you for a job and you're in the middle of something just let me know it's gonna be longer. These companies do not like to wait three hours for a technician to arrive. Most will usually wait 90-120mins. It's okay if you're busy. We'll just move on to the next call. There will always be more calls. Not making etas only causes more stress and anxiety between the both of us. Plus it gives the company a bad image. It's very important to me that we make the etas you tell me and what I tell the company. If there's going to be any delays on your end. I either need you to call or text me first, tell me you'll be delayed, and give me a new eta. I don't need an excuse on why you'll be delayed. I just need to know so I can update the company.
4. Issues with Job.
Issues while on the job. About every hour or so I'm going to text you asking for a update. Do we need parts, how's the installation or removal going? What's the diagnosis? How are you? If for some odd reason you need to leave while you're in the middle of a job I need to be the first person to know. Please don't leave without telling me. Whether it's you got personal matters or an emergency. I don't need an excuse I just need to know.
(Just a heads up tho. The job will probably get canceled because honestly these companies don't want techs leaving their trucks for hours on end during a installation and this will result in both of us not getting paid. (Unless I can work it out with the company.) The important thing is you communicate with me that you're either having issues with tools, the installation/diagnosis, or a personal matter that you must attend to.
5.Pictures & Arrival Time
Before you do any work on these trucks I first need a text from you saying that you're on-site. Then sent from your phone, I need pictures of the dot, license plate, and company name. When I get your pictures I'll text you that I got them. Your Phone Service provider must be good. Your phone's camera itself must take good clear pictures and videos. These companies can be very hard to work with sometimes. Some want updates constantly every 30-60mins. If you're not a phone savy person and you hate texting then this job is not for you.
6. TOOLS
You'll need a good amount of tools to do the work necessary. Main tools include 20-30ton pump jacks, air compressor, big sockets to remove tires and locking nuts, wrenches, sockets, breaker bars, filter wrenches from 3inch-6inch, jumper cables/jumpbox, hazard lights, & scanner for trucks (doesn't have to be expensive, harbor freight and Amazon have great options). We can talk more about your tools during the phone interview.
7. Working Vehicle
Accepted Vehicles will be either trucks or vans. I cannot allow you to work in a car.
For interviews we'll do a video call or in person to see what tools you have and I would like to go on a couple of calls with you to see your knowledge.
Must be customer friendly. I don't need you to cater to the customers fully but communication is important if the truckers are owner ops. Fixing the problem and getting them back on the road is our main focus. Must have communication with me as your dispatcher.
You'll never have to worry about collecting payments. I'll take care of all of that.
You get paid when I get paid!! No weekly or bi weekly bs. As soon as I collect payment from the company I will send you payment via Cashapp or Zelle. You must download one of those payment apps in order to get payments for Service.
8. PAY$$$$$$
Pay starts from 30-60 an hour. The starting pay all depends on your knowledge and tools you have. If you meet all the requirements then you'll start out at 50 a hour. After 6 months of meeting all the requirements your pay will be maxed out at 60 a hour plus monthly/yearly bonuses.
Monthly/Yearly Bonuses just for working and getting it done?? Show me that you care and you enjoy what you do. I'll gladly reward good work ethic with $$$... Not a pizza party... I have a very low turnover rate. I may be a small company but I keep my techs very happy. I started this company four years ago and started hiring techs three years ago. Both techs that I hired still work for me.
Let's talk and fix some trucks. Not only do I dispatch but I'm out in the field as well. I love what I do and hopefully you do too. Looking forward to meeting you and making us all the monies!! Let's get some blood, oil, grease, and diesel on our hands. $$$$$$
