Assistant Controller

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee the financial operations of our bus transportation company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all accounting functions, preparing financial statements, handling monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings, and supporting strategic decision-making through financial insights. This is a hands-on role that requires both high-level financial oversight and a willingness to dive into the day-to-day accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee all general accounting operations, including A/P, A/R, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare financial reports and ensure timely and accurate financial closing.
• Perform budget planning, forecasting, and variance analysis to support business goals.
• Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
• Oversee and file all tax-related filings
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and tax laws.
• Collaborate with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies as needed.
• Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to the executive team.
• Support continuous improvement of accounting systems and processes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA or CMA preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of accounting/financial experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or Microsoft Dynamic GP) and Microsoft Excel.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
