Part-Time Accounting Assistant (Bookkeeper)

The Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation, a large, private, nonoperating foundation located in Port Washington, New York, is seeking a Part-Time Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and reconciliation.

This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional seeking a flexible, part-time opportunity in a mission-driven organization. Fully in-person at the Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation headquarters, the Accounting Assistant reports to the Chief Financial Officer and works closely with the Accounts Principle.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounts payable processes, including invoice entry, approvals, and payments
• Assist with preparing financial reports and ensure compliance with company policies
• Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
• Maintain records by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions
• Work on special projects as needed

Education & Experience

Hard Skills

• Associate’s or higher with Accounting/Finance coursework
• 3-5 years bookkeeping experience
• Working knowledge of QuickBooks (Online & Desktop)
• Excel proficiency

Soft Skills

• Detail-oriented and organized
• Discreet with confidential information
• Self-directed and reliable

Compensation

$30-$40 per hour [depending on experience and knowledge]
