Position Summary
The Senior Key Account Manager is responsible for managing several of Peter Grimm’s most established, long-term retail partners—our legacy accounts—while also driving new business opportunities through proactive prospecting and relationship-building. This role requires a high-performing salesperson with strong retail experience, exceptional communication skills, and a proven ability to open and grow accounts.
The ideal candidate has deep experience in retail products, apparel, or headwear and thrives in a commission-driven environment with uncapped earning potential.
What You’ll Do
Legacy Account Leadership
- Manage an assigned group of long-standing, high-value national and regional accounts.
- Develop and execute strategic seasonal account plans that drive revenue growth.
- Present new lines, seasonal initiatives, and promotional programs to buyers.
- Maintain high communication cadence with accounts, ensuring world-class service.
- Identify opportunities for assortment expansion, improved margins, or category growth.
- Analyze POS/sell-through to optimize forecasting and replenishment.
New Business Development
- Proactively prospect and open new retail accounts in:
- Resort & Travel
- Outdoor sporting
- Apparel & lifestyle boutiques
- Farm & Ranch
- Hardware & home improvement
- Grocery
- Convenience stores & travel centers
- Build a strong, qualified pipeline through calls, outreach, meetings, and trade shows.
- Create compelling brand and product presentations for new retail partners.
- Lead the full sales cycle: prospect → pitch → negotiate → onboard → develop.
Internal Collaboration & Strategy
- Work closely with marketing to support retailer promotions and brand stories.
- Partner with operations on forecasting, inventory flow, and demand planning.
- Provide product feedback based on buyer reactions and market needs.
- Contribute to annual sales planning, target-setting, and new program development.
What You Bring
Experience
- 7–10 years of retail sales and high-level key account management experience.
- Strong preference for:
- Apparel
- Accessories
- Headwear straw & cut and sew
- Demonstrated success managing revenue-producing accounts.
- Proven track record of opening and onboarding new retail customers.

Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel 20–40% to accounts, meetings, and major trade shows.
- Proficiency in ERP & CRM tools, Excel/Sheets, and basic sales reporting.
- Strong presentation skills (digital & in-person).
Compensation
- Commission-only role with no earning cap
- Current earnings range: $100,000–$150,000 before added new accounts.
- Top performers may exceed this range
