Overview
We’re looking for a dependable Plumbing Technician to join our team and help deliver high-quality service work for residential and light commercial clients. You’ll be working for a trusted small business based in Dover, Delaware, and serving the surrounding areas. In this role, you’ll handle everything from installing new systems to troubleshooting and repairs. It’s a hands-on position where your skills and problem-solving abilities will make a real difference on every job site.
Responsibilities
- Work with team members or independently to complete a job from start to finish with little need for supervision - from discovering and diagnosing an issue and assessing the damage, to formulating a plan, executing the repair, and cleaning up the job site.
- Proficiently install and repair various plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, garbage disposal units, and dishwashers.
- Glue and assemble water and waste systems, solder, and thread pipe with attention to detail
- Install and repair gas piping
- Support remodeling projects, including fixture upgrades and plumbing system improvements
- Take measurements and make basic calculations for accurate installations
- Prepare invoices, totaling costs of services/products provided accurately and in a timely manner, and collect payment from the client
- Drive a box truck or other large work vehicle, abiding by all laws and arriving at the client’s homes on time
- Maintain an assigned truck’s parts inventory including replacing stocked items when low
- Maintain and keep clean company issued tools, equipment, and vehicles used on the job.
- Safely handle materials, power tools, and equipment
Skills & Experience
- At least two years of experience as a plumber or journeyman plumber (five years or more preferred, as well as apprenticeship schooling, though not necessary)
- Solid understanding of plumbing codes and safety practices in the State of Delaware.
- Physically able to lift heavy items and tools such as water heaters and sewer machines, comfortable working in tight spaces, and ability to bend and twist.
- Proficient at using hand tools, power tools, and plumbing equipment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle physically demanding work
- Basic math skills for measurements and estimates
- Good written and oral communication skills for effective customer service
- Handyman and/or carpentry experience is a bonus
Minimum Requirements
- Must have hand tools, cordless tools and a working cell phone
- Must have a clean driving record and valid driver’s license
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
