Duties
- Greet clients warmly, schedule appointments, and manage the clinic’s daily calendar to optimize workflow.
- Handle medical billing and collections with accuracy, ensuring timely processing of payments in accordance with Medical collection procedures.
- Maintain detailed patient records, update medical histories, and assist with laboratory documentation to support veterinary diagnostics.
- Assist veterinary staff during examinations, surgeries, and critical care procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Support kennel operations by coordinating animal intake, discharge, feeding, and basic animal husbandry tasks.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies, medications, and pet care products while adhering to DEA regulations for controlled substances and USDA guidelines for animal transport.
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering inquiries about pet health, treatment plans, and clinic policies related to veterinary terminology and animal restraint techniques.
- Oversee compliance with all safety protocols including drug enforcement regulations, aseptic techniques, and laboratory standards.
- Facilitate effective communication between clients and veterinary team members to ensure clarity on treatment procedures such as animal catheterization or surgery preparations.
- Support pet owners with advice on dog training, pet grooming, and general animal care best practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a veterinary or animal care setting with knowledge of companion animal medicine and surgery are preferred.
- Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and restraint techniques.
- Experience with medical-surgical procedures including drug administration and aseptic technique implementation.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary diagnostics and critical care environments.
- Cornerstone/idexx software knowledge.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of DEA regulations, USDA standards, and pet care best practices is highly desirable.
- Exceptional communication skills to effectively interact with clients about pet health concerns or treatment plans using veterinary terminology clearly.
- Prior kennel experience or animal husbandry background is preferred.
