What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groomer position at Pet Station?
Pet Groomer — Commission-Based | 2–5 Years Experience Required
Job Summary
We are a family-owned, woman-led pet grooming business seeking an experienced, professional Pet Groomer to join our team on a commission-based compensation model. This is not an hourly role — compensation is paid by commission per groom.
This role is for a groomer who takes pride in their craft, shows up consistently, and delivers excellent, high-quality grooming services to every client, every time. You will be responsible for the full grooming process — from intake to finish — while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and client communication.
We are looking for someone who sees grooming as a profession, values dependability and commitment, and wants to grow with a stable, values-driven small business.
Compensation
- Commission-based pay per groom (not hourly or salaried)
- Earnings are directly tied to your productivity, skill, and client volume
- High performers are rewarded accordingly
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including bathing, brushing, de-shedding, trimming, clipping, and breed-standard styling
- Safely and confidently handle pets of various sizes, breeds, temperaments, and coat types
- Assess coat and skin condition and flag any health or behavioral concerns to owners when appropriate
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized grooming workspace; sanitize tools and equipment between pets
- Provide clear, professional communication with pet owners regarding grooming needs, expectations, and aftercare
- Maintain accurate appointment, service, and client records as required
- Uphold a consistently high standard of grooming quality, animal safety, and customer experience
Required Qualifications
- 2–5 years of hands-on professional grooming experience (required)
- Demonstrated proficiency in full-service grooming (not just bathing or basic trims)
- Strong knowledge of animal handling, coat types, breed standards, and safe restraint techniques
- Ability to handle large dogs and physically demanding work safely
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Strong reliability, punctuality, and professional accountability
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience with anxious, reactive, or special-needs pets
- Basic dog behavior or training knowledge
- Prior experience in a veterinary, kennel, or animal care setting

- Takes pride in excellent work , not rushing, not cutting corners
- Enjoys working in a small, family-run, woman-led business with strong values and high standards
- Wants to be trusted as a professional, not micromanaged
Who This Role Is NOT For
- Someone looking for hourly or guaranteed pay regardless of output
- Someone new to grooming or still in training
- Someone seeking short-term, seasonal, or side-hustle work
