The ABC Clinic of Pet Refuge is seeking a Veterinary Assistant or Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. We are a non-profit organization focused on High-Volume, High-Quality Spay/Neuter surgery in the Michiana area. We typically see around 60-70 patients each day.
The candidate should be a highly motivated, enthusiastic, self-starter with a professional attitude. Strong teamwork and positive attitude is a must with our close-knit team. During regular clinic hours, a potential candidate would be responsible for daily care and oversight of all surgical patients, assisting doctors with intraoperative care of patients, and general cleaning. Previous veterinary experience is preferred.
This position requires a candidate be available to work Monday through Thursday with varying hours from 7:00am to 5:30pm. We do NOT have weekend hours!
Required Skills:
- Have reliable transportation to and from work
- Be able to lift 50 pounds consistently
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must know veterinary medical concepts including but not limited to vaccine & surgical protocols and anesthetic procedures
- Must be able to stand for eight or more hours a day
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Canine and feline restraint techniques
- Must have effective communication skills
Preferred Requirements:
- Skillful in IV catheter placement, IV access, intubation, and drug calculation
- Knowledge of controlled substance regulations
