Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong understanding of dog handling. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals in our care while providing exceptional customer service to pet owners.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising dogs and other pets.
- Maintain cleanliness in the kennel area by regularly cleaning and sanitizing kennels, play areas, and equipment.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff or management.
- Assist with animal restraint during grooming or veterinary procedures as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their pets’ needs and well-being.
- Help with basic training and socialization of dogs to ensure they are well-adjusted and comfortable in a kennel environment.
- Support veterinary staff with tasks related to animal care as needed, including assisting with examinations or treatments.
Requirements
- Previous experience in animal care or handling is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Strong understanding of dog behavior and handling techniques, including animal restraint methods.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members.
- A background in veterinary assistance or knowledge of basic veterinary practices is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
- Must be physically capable of lifting animals up to 50 pounds and performing tasks that require standing for extended periods.
