We are seeking an experienced Insurance Authorization Specialist who has a Can-do
Attitude and an Eye for Detail to join our Authorization and Verifications team. This person
will be responsible for ensuring efficient and timely submissions of all necessary
Authorizations; being the liaison between other teams; and providing excellent customer
service by using their knowledge of insurance authorizations and insurance
requirements/guidelines.
Position is located in Hollywood, Florida.

In this position, you will:
- Operate effectively across departments to enable uninterrupted cash flow from payers and patients
- Review orders for appropriate demographic and insurance information
- Review medical record encounters to decipher valid and appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis codes, request appropriate records from referring offices, as required - to meet coding compliance guidelines
- Provide timely verification of insurance eligibility and benefits for patient services across all payors for each and every PET scan referral
- Initiate, manage, and follow authorization appeals to completion
- Notify patients of financial responsibility for services according to benefits, eligibility, and coverage
- Answer incoming calls and inquiries from patients and referring offices pertaining to benefits, eligibility, denial responses, and communicate any and all patient financial responsibilities
- Working knowledge of appointment scheduling for appointment rescheduling due to denials pending Peer-to-Peer requests, and/or other appointment delays directly related to the authorizations process
- Correct authorizations and verification information, when necessary
Our Ideal Candidate
Education/Requirements:
- High School diploma is required, College degree or working toward one is a plus
- 3 - 5 years extensive insurance verification and authorization experience required - in radiology and diagnostic imaging services is a plus
- Must successfully pass AHCA Level 2 screening - https://info.flclearinghouse.com
- Must be approved for EPIC access by MHS
- Must have flexibility to travel between all PIISF Centers and be willing to work at any one location for extended periods, as needed
Skills and Abilities
- Can-do attitude with a willingness to work in a team environment
- Bilingual is required (English/Spanish)
- Sound analysis skills and good judgement
- Organized and focused
- Computer literate - working knowledge of EMR programs and Microsoft Office Suite
- Reliability
- Excellent organizational & time management skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology a plus
- Excellent written & oral communication skills
